I have a series of panoramas that I've taken over the past few years. I'll be adding these over the next few days. My camera is a Canon Powershot A720IS (my previous camera was a Canon Powershot A70 which I had for about four years). All my panoramas are stitched using a package called Calico Panorama (mac application).

Porchester Castle 2007
Porchester Castle is the best preserved Roman coastal fort in Northern Europe. Despite centuries of occupation most of the ancient perimeter defences still survey intact, a testament to the construction techniques employed by the roman army. This photo is taken from on top of the medieval keep (which was built in a corner of the fort in the 12th century) looking out across the centre of the fort. And in the distance one can see the city of Portsmouth. This was the first outing for my new Canon Powershot A720IS. Its a huge improvement over the A70 and I can't wait to take lots of new shots with it.

Pompeii Forum 2007
During our visit to Pompeii we stopped to admire the remains of the great forum. Most of the forum was damaged during the earthquake which rocked the city prior to the eruption. It is believed that the forum was undergoing extensive repairs when the eruption struck the city (which explains why few of the columns remain. Standing there today the presence of Mt Vesuvious looming in the background makes for a very ominous atmosphere.

Mt Vesuvio 2007
After visiting Pompeii we took a trip up Mt Vesuvio, the great volcano that buried Pompeii. It was quite something to stand at the top of a volcano and peer into its creator. Especially one that erupted as recently as 1944. Click on the image to get a full size version.

Roman Basillica Pompeii 2007
A couple of months ago I went on holiday to the Almalfi coast in Italy. Its just south of Naples so obviously I could not resist a trip to the great Pompeii. As a student of archaeology visiting the roman town was like a dream come true. So you can imagine I took quite a few photos. Click on the image to get a full size version.

Gordel Scar 2 2007
Following on from the photo below if you look at the where the lone cloud is positioned in the sky, roughly straight down is where we stood to take this shot. The viewings were amazing! Well worth the climb. Click on the image to get a full size version.

Gordel Scar 1 2007
Back in April I went on a trip with some friends to Gordel Scar in Yorkshire. Its an area very much like the Burren in Ireland, a large area of Karst limestone. Its a very impressive place and well worth a visit. This first shot is of the wide entrance to Gordel Scar itself. Looks very forboding! Click on the image to get a full size version.

Andorra Skiing Trip 2007
In February of 2007 I went on a skiing holiday to Andorra. Luckly it snowed the day before we arrived so everything had a nice white dusting. Below is a shot of a mountain range across from the main ski slopes. Click on the image to get a full size version.

Spain 2003
Back in 2003 a friend of mine got married in Spain and lucky me got an invite! The weather started off really nice but got worse as the week went by. Thankfully I managed to get this shot of the bay area of the small town we were staying in. The next day the weather changed.
